Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your MapMyRange account and all associated data at any time. There are two ways to do it — choose whichever works for you. You do not need to be signed in to this page to read these instructions.
Option 1 — Delete in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is directly in the app:
- Open the MapMyRange app.
- Go to Profile.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
Your account and data are removed as described below. This action cannot be undone.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app, email us and we’ll delete your account for you:
- Send an email to support@mapmyrange.com from the email address associated with your account.
- Use the subject line Delete My Account.
We verify the request comes from your account’s email address and fulfill deletion requests within 30 days.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove all of the personal data tied to it, including:
- Your account and profile (email, name, account identifier, date of birth).
- Your golf shot records — including where you were standing on the range for each shot, which target you aimed at, and the direction and distance of the shot, along with club and timestamp data.
- Your shot marks, if you subscribe to shot marking. A mark is a point you place by hand on a satellite map, one shot at a time, to record where you remember the ball coming down — not where it came to rest, and not something the app watched. Deleting your account removes the marks themselves, the along-the-line and across-the-line distances from the target that we work out from them, and the two coordinates we keep for each mark so that calculation can be redone later: the point you placed, and where the target was at the moment you placed it.
- Your record of paid access to shot marking — that your account had it, how it was granted, and when it started and expires.
- Your bag and club data.
- Your range session history — which range you visited and when — and any saved sessions.
- Your range consents, push notification tokens, notification preferences, and in-app messages.
- Your range event interests — the record of which range events you marked interest in.
Shot marking is a paid extra. If you have never subscribed to it, there are no marks on your account to delete and nothing else in the list above changes — the free app does not create marks.
Deleting your marks and deleting your account are not the same thing
Your marks are stored separately from your shot history, on purpose: it means your marks can be deleted on their own, without losing the shots they were placed on. It also means the two deletions cover different things, and it is worth being exact about that so neither is read as the other.
Deleting only your marks removes what the marks bullet above describes — the marks, the distances from the target we derive from them, and the two coordinates we keep to be able to redo that calculation. It does not remove the location information held on your shot history: where you were standing, where we have that recorded; the direction from you to the target you aimed at; how far away that target was; and which target it was. Those are part of the free shot history your own practice statistics are measured from. They are not part of shot marking, and removing your marks does not remove them.
Deleting your account removes both — the marks and the shot history, with everything listed in the previous section. If what you want is for us to hold none of it, that is the one to choose.
What is retained
We do not retain your personal data after deletion. Your account, sessions, shots, marks, and everything derived from your location are removed. If we are required by law to keep a minimal, non-identifying record of the fact that a deletion request was made (for example, to demonstrate compliance), that record contains no personal data beyond what the law requires. We never keep your data for advertising or resale.
One technical exception, stated so this promise is precise rather than merely reassuring: to tell you what a shot “plays like” uphill or downhill, we cache the ground elevation at a coordinate for up to 30 days. That cache is keyed by the coordinate alone — it holds no account or device identifier and is shared by everyone who hits toward that spot — so it is not linked to you and it expires on its own. It is not deleted per-account because there is nothing in it identifying an account.
